Pop quiz - is Mrs. Meyers a nontoxic cleaning brand? (cue the musical timer). Bzzzz - time's up.
Want the answer? See for yourself. Spoiler alert, it's not too impressive. #greenwashing

Here's the problem - we've been conditioned to believe that to make something really clean, we have to bomb it with a chemical blast that requires skull and cross-bone warning labels (any fellow 80's kids remember these?). This is simply not true!
Clean means not sticky, grimy, smelly, stained, or full of germs, right? Do you know what can get that job done? You guessed it - plants!
With some simple pantry ingredients and Certified Pure Tested Grade essential oils, you can get your house sparkling clean while avoiding toxic exposure that taxes your detox organs.
Below you'll find the exact DIY recipes I use to clean my own chemical-free home. They work great, smell amazing, and can be used without gloves (even by my reluctant teenage son).
Green is the new clean! To help you get started, here's a sample dōTERRA cart. Beyond this, a trip to the supermarket for some white vinegar, baking soda, and citric acid will complete the supply list. Easy peasy, lemon (essential oil) squeezie!
Even better, here's a downloadable PDF of all my recipes!
Now, let's get to work...
OnGuard All-Purpose Spray Cleaner
Use to clean all surfaces in your whole home. Also serves as a fruit/veggie wash to remove pesticides and waxy residue.
1 glass spray bottle (16 oz)
Add cleaner to spray bottle, then fill with water (gently to avoid foaming).
Daily Shower Tile/Curtain Spray
Use to prevent the growth of mold and mildew on shower walls/curtain.
1 glass spray bottle (16 oz)
10 drops Peppermint essential oil
10 drops Tea Tree essential oil
1/4 cup isopropyl alcohol
Add ingredients, then fill with water. Spray shower walls/curtain daily.
OnGuard All-Purpose Scrub Cleaner
Use to clean all areas in your home where a scrub is needed (tub/shower, sinks, toilet, stuck-on grime dishes, glass top range, etc.).
1 cup baking soda
1/4 cup citric acid
10 drops essential oil (recommend lemon or grapefruit)
Add all ingredients to a bowl. Mix well with a spoon. Ingredients will puff up, then harden. Stir several times over the next few hours, then let rest overnight. Store in a mason jar or plastic tub.
To use, scoop a tablespoon or so of the powder directly into your sink, toilet, etc. Scrub with a bit of water, then wipe/rinse.
