If you're ready to gift with intention and keep harmful chemicals away from the people you love, start here! Let’s make well-kind gifting easy, meaningful, and naturally fun.

Getting The Right Supplies

When it comes to essential oils, you might be tempted to pick up a cheap bottle from Amazon, a discount store, or your local grocer. But, as with many things, you truly get what you pay for. dōTERRA uses its own rigorous standard, CPTG Certified Pure Tested Grade®, to guarantee that what’s in each bottle is pure, nature-derived essential oil: no fillers, no synthetic fragrances or additives, no undisclosed “fragrance” chemicals.

Every oil is carefully sourced through our exclusive Co-Impact Sourcing system, and every batch is carefully tested (often by independent third parties). You can learn all about the dōTERRA difference at https://www.sourcetoyou.com/en.

Choosing high-quality oils as the foundation of your DIY gifts isn’t just about clean ingredients. It’s about safety, authenticity, and giving people you love something genuinely beneficial.

Pure-Fume Roller Bottles

ree

Thoughtful, customizable, and deeply personal, roller bottles are perfect for everyday emotional support or a signature scent made just for them. With pure essential oils in a nourishing fractionated coconut oil, these become pocket-sized aromatherapy tools and pure-fume companions that feel luxurious without the toxins.

Basic Recipe

  • 1 10mL glass roller bottle (I recommend see-through amber or cobalt glass with stainless steel roller balls)

  • Organic fractionated coconut oil

  • 20 drops essential oil

Gather the essential oil(s) of your choice. Carefully add 20 drops to the bottle, then top to the shoulder (not the top) with fractionated coconut oil. Secure the roller top and screw cap. Add a sticker to the lid top (single oil) or a custom label. Note your recipe so you can refill the bottle as needed.

Sugar Scrubs

ree

A simple blend of sugar, fractionated coconut oil, and essential oils transforms a hand wash into a spa-worthy treat. These scrubs exfoliate, soften, and elevate any self-care routine. They’re beautiful in a jar, quick to make, and universally loved.

Basic Recipe (1 pint)

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • 1/2 cup regular coconut oil (room temperature - preferably on the softer side)

  • 20-30 drops essential oil

Add sugar and coconut oil to a bowl. Mix with hands until it reaches a fluffy/sandy consistency. Add the essential oil(s) and mix again, briefly, before spooning into your jar.

Consider cutting a circle of pretty fabric to screw between the lid and ring to make it pretty. Add the label of your choice and be sure to note the recipe.

Beard & Hair Oil

ree

A sleek, plant-powered upgrade to traditional grooming products. A little goes a long way with this lightweight blend that stimulates, softens, and subtly scents hair or beards without synthetic fragrance or heavy residue.

Basic Recipe

  • 1 oz (30 mL) glass dropper bottle

  • 10 mL dōTERRA Castor Oil

  • 20 mL organic fractionated coconut oil

  • 20 drops essential oils

Combine oils in the bottle. To use, drop directly onto scalp or into fingertips. Massage into scalp or beard. Does not need to be rinsed, but I recommend using it on the scalp overnight and washing in the morning. The recipe can be scaled up, as needed.

Flavored Olive Oils

ree

A delicious, simple, and unexpected gift for food lovers. Infusing high-quality olive oil with dōTERRA essential oils turns everyday meals into something special. Perfect for dipping, drizzling, and elevating simple home cooking. Makes a great dinner party host gift.

*Note: never ingest an essential oil purchased online or at a retail store. These may contain harmful contaminants. Only use Certified Pure Tested Grade dōTERRA essential oils, and only those with a Supplement Fact label. Here's a Podcast Episode that explains more about the internal use of essential oils.

**Also note: when it comes to flavor, dōTERRA essential oils pack a punch! Be sure to taste as you go so that your recipe does not get ruined by an overly-strong result. Less is more - add one drop at a time.

Basic Recipe

  • 1 cup olive oil

  • 2-5 drops essential oil

Mix and store in a glass container, preferably with a pour spout.

Pillow & Room Sprays

ree

Give the gift of a pleasing environment. A few spritzes can shift the mood of a whole space. Whether they need calm, clarity, joy, or a fresh reset, these sprays are simple to blend and make lovely, thoughtful gifts for any home. They couldn't be easier! Check out these recipe ideas.

Basic Recipe

  • 4-ounce spray bottle

  • 1.5 ounces distilled water

  • 1.5 ounces witch hazel

  • 20-30 drops of essential oil

If you don't have witch hazel, no worries! Plain filtered water works just fine on its own.

Add the essential oils of your choice. Top with water. Label the bottle. Shake and spray. That's it!

Bath Salts

ree

A warm bath becomes a therapeutic ritual with mineral-rich salts and pure essential oils. These gifts encourage slow moments, deep breaths, and meaningful restoration (something we all need more of).

Check out this Made In A Minute video to see how easy it is to make.

Basic Recipe

  • 2 c. Epsom salt

  • 1 c. sea salt

  • 1/2 c. baking soda

  • 2 TBS fractionated coconut oil

  • 20 drops essential oil

Add to a large bowl and mix with a spoon. Spoon mixture into a container with a screw top or securely fitting lid (a large mason jar is best). To use, shake 1 cup into a warm bath.

Lip Balm

ree

Soft, nourishing, and naturally flavored, DIY lip balm is a staple that everyone can use. It’s quick to make in batches and feels delightfully artisanal when poured into little tins or tubes.

Basic Recipe (directly from dōTERRA)

  • 1 ounce beeswax

  • 1 ounce coconut oil

  • ½ ounce shea butter

  • ½ ounce cocoa butter

  • 30 drops of essential oil

Instructions (makes around 20 tubes)

  1. Line up empty containers. If using a lip balm stick, make sure it ihas been twisted down.

  2. Measure butters and oils and place in glass jar.

  3. Fill a large saucepan with one to one and a half inches of water and bring to a boil.

  4. Once boiling, add glass jar to center of saucepan.

  5. Stir every few minutes until ingredients are melted and combined.

  6. Once wax is melted, remove from heat and let sit for three minutes then add essential oils.

  7. Pour mixture into lip balm containers and let cool.

  8. If you would like to make tinted lip balm, move to the next two steps.

  9. Add a pinch of colored mineral makeup until you get your desired color. Stir until combined.

  10. Pour tinted lip balm into containers and let cool.

Tip: If you want a harder lip balm, add an additional half ounce of beeswax. For an even softer lip balm, add an additional half ounce of coconut oil.

This lip balm makes a great gift and can easily be customized. Change the color or the scent by using a variety of mineral makeup and essential oils.
